• What cultural issues, social issues, or geopolitical/political issues does the film address? How does the film fit into the cultural/political/social context of the Cold War era?
2. Who created the film? Who sponsored the film? In what ways, if any, does the identity of the sponsor influence the content and message of the film?
• “Creating” the film was the role of a film or production company (or agencies of federal or state governments) • “Sponsoring” the film usually means commissioning and funding the film. The sponsor of the film, along with the creator/producer of the film sets the agenda for the film.
• This step may take a little research on your part. If you view a film sponsored by “Harding College,” for example, looking into that institution (or whatever organization sponsored the film) will probably provide valuable insight.
