1. INTRODUCTION
This is a reflective analysis about my management skills, because to be a good manager is
required to have a number of defined skills. The aim of this reflective analysis is to develop
my management skill through critical evaluating them. I may harness my personal abilities
and improve what is not really good or weaknesses. This reflective analysis will help me to
enhance my performance for future situations as a manager, applying my strengths.
I am a speech therapist, specialised in quality manager and health auditor, doing Master of
Business administration and Public Health. For that reason I need to know deeply, how good
my management skills are and upgrade through this self-reflection.
2. Analysis
Managers have the control and the responsibility for achieve the target of the organisation by
others, managers are in charge of planning, organising, leading and controlling (University of
Minnesota, 2015). After answering the test how good are your management skills?, I can see
that I have difficulty with managing discipline and dealing with conflict, that mean I
sometimes have problems solving conflicts between my team, in spite of do my best
endeavour, which is one important function of the managers, due to a bad managing
discipline and dealing with conflicts the business may have a negative impact, also team
performance has an influence when there are conflicts among personal members, between the
duty of a manager is supply a solution. Nevertheless, disagreement may be a constructive
attribute whenever show potential essential troubles and give to the manager experience
handling with major issue, it is fundamental solve the situation from the cause to avoid future
confrontations between the team (Johnson, 2015).
After answering the test to evaluate my management skills, I realise that I am good to
understand team dynamics and encouraging good relationships. What is good for a manager,

even I want to comprehend the performance of the teams, promoting successful teams
through sharing experiences, making them advance and original, because I have not
experience as a manager.
Another important skill for management is delegating effectively, in this point I need to
improve, to be a great manager, and because to get excellent outcomes it is necessary allocate
the right people to determined activities. Delegate is based on skill, but at the same time
based on the confidence of the team, motivation and training. My problem is that I prefer, to
do things by myself when I feel not sure about the proficiency of others.
One more point to be a good manager is selecting and developing the right people, which is
good but I can improve for the reason that its part of team formation, identifying right new
people to be part of the team and training them to achieve the business purpose. Sometimes I
let myself be influenced by people with whom I have kinship.
After applying the quiz I realise that I am good motivating people, it’s not the same selfmotivation that motivating others. I always try to motivate my friends, family and people
close to me. Motivation is particular for each person, concerning to private life, also
everybody have distinct levels of motivation (Mind tools content team, 2020). When I want
to motivate my team work, it’s easier if I know them in the personal life giving to them
information about their reaction, their performance to help them with constant improvement
in the professional field.
One more necessary skill to be a good manager is effective communication, I need to work on
this skill, because I am not good talking, starting from I am shy, many times I don’t say
nothing to avoid conflicts. Communication is a basic skill for managers, managers should
constantly communicate with team member, to report what is happening, solve possible
misunderstand and give orientation when they need it.
Other important skills for manager also are planning, problem solving and decision-making,
in these skill I need to enhance because sometimes I have difficulty making decisions due to
surrounding me feelings. I always applied logical thinking before making a decision,
sometimes spend long time previously make even a small decision. Regarding planning it is
one of my best skill, I like to be prepared to any situation.

Finally, avoiding common managerial mistakes is a significant management skill, I always
attempt to research or learn from other experiences, which is good but managers need to
upgrade this skill. Many of the mistakes happen due to ineffective communication.
3. CONCLUSION
From this reflective analysis I can conclude that I have three main point for improve to be a
good manager which are managing discipline and deal with conflicts, delegation effectively
and communicating. Also find the way to change intentional my habits and competencies
missing to performance an excellent role in a business.
